In my opinion, hot dogs shouldn't be eaten. I don't care what the holiday is. However, about once a year, I crave baked beans and hot dogs. So, it seemed only natural that we have a great baked bean recipe. Full of bacon, beans, and the sweet flavors of Calicutts Sweet and Smoky BBQ, I may have to change my stance on the hot dogs, for the kids sake. (Wink, wink)
Ingredients
- 2 28 oz Cans Plain Pork and Beans
- ½ C Ketchup
- ¼ C BBQ Sauce
- 2 Tbsp Brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp Calicutts Sweet and Smoky BBQ
- 1 Tbsp Yellow mustard
- 6 Slices Bacon, thick-cut
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Combine ketchup, BBQ sauce, brown sugar, Sweet & Smoky BBQ Spice Blend, and mustard in a medium-sized mixing bowl.
- Open the cans of beans, draining any standing liquid on top, and add beans to the mixing bowl. Mix thoroughly with sauce and pour into a cast iron skillet.
- Cut bacon into 1/2 inch pieces and place on top of the beans.
- Bake beans, uncovered for 1-1.5 hours or until bacon is cooked and starting to crisp. Serve hot.
